In November 2023, Shanghai Party Institute (SPI) of CPC (Shanghai Administration Institute,SAI)), published a bilingual (Chinese-English) textbook titled Why Shanghai?— Stories of Chinese Modernization. Designed with the interests and concerns of overseas readers in mind, the book presents case-based narratives that explore themes of broad relevance, including China's distinctive revolutionary sites, economic development, people's wellbeing, urban governance, and openness and win-win cooperation. Through these themes, it vividly portrays Shanghai as a distinguished symbol of Chinese modernization.
In its international training programs, SPI (SAI) remains committed to "better telling China's stories, making China's voice heard, and presenting a China that is credible, appealing, and respectable." For over a decade, guided by its educational philosophy of being "modern, comprehensive, research-oriented, and open,"SPI (SAI) has actively advanced international exchange, cooperation, and training. It has organized both in-person and online exchange programs, developed digital courses, nurtured faculty with expertise in international engagement, and produced bilingual teaching materials. Through these ongoing efforts, SPI (SAI) has projected the voice of a Party school in effectively telling China's stories and made modest yet meaningful contributions to fostering friendship, broadening consensus, and strengthening cooperation.
