All of our Executive Education programs are led by full-time Harvard University faculty, and supplemented by lecturers and guest speakers who have been chosen for both their issue expertise and proven ability to teach senior executives.

Many faculty members are actively engaged in shaping policy through their consulting and advisory work with heads of organizations and governments around the world. They have firsthand knowledge of the practical problems addressed in Executive Education programs.

A vital part of the Executive Education approach to learning is the case study method pioneered at Harvard. Each case is based on a real-life situation that stimulates participants to think through problem-solving methods and possible solutions to actual situations.

By investigating successes and failures of real people in real time, participants draw lessons relevant to their own professional experiences and challenges. The broad range of perspectives at the Kennedy School enriches this learning process, adding useful insights into the difficult task of decision-making in a diverse and complex environment.

In addition to in-class activities, our programs offer participants the chance to reflect on their own personal and professional experiences by breaking into smaller work and discussion groups where each participant has the opportunity to present his or her own case study to peers.

In the past year, Executive Education participants hailed from 126 countries and included 3 ambassadors, 11 ministers, 6 mayors, 10 permanent secretaries and more than 50 legislators.

In June 2008, the Memorandum of Understanding between Harvard University and Shanghai Administration Institute was signed.
