ESCEG Delegation Visits SAI

On July 8, a delegation of the Higher School of State and Government Cadres (ESCEG) in Cuba, which was led by its rector, Mercedes Delgado Fernández, paid a visit to Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI). The meeting was presided over by ZENG Jun, the Executive Vice President of SAI, with SAI Vice President WANG Yongjie in attendance.

ZENG Junextended welcometo the delegation and looked back at the history of exchanges between the two sides. He stated that thefriendship between China and Cuba had stood the test of time, and that the two parties and countriesshared the same values and embraced a fighting spirit and a firm determination to never yield to coercive power, and jointly shouldered the noble mission of building and developing a socialist country. Since establishingpartnership in 2016, the two sides, which both serve as key institutions in cadre education & training of their respective countries, have implemented the consensus regarding deepening exchanges of experience in party and state governance which arereached by the top leaders of the two parties and countries. Both sides also maintained extensive, in-depth cooperation in such aspects as faculty exchanges, cadre training, lecturing &academic exchange, and joint publications. He hoped that this exchange would serve as an opportunity to further intensify their collaborative research in economic development, environmental protection, urban governance, and other areas.

Mercedes expressed gratitude to SAI for its longstanding support forcadre education & training in Cuba. She noted that in recent years, SAI had organized nine online lectures, which have benefited numerous officials and scholars at different levels in her country, while SAI faculty havd published five theoretical articles in Cuban journals, providing valuable theoretical references for the country in terms of economic development and ideological work. She hoped that the two sides could jointly establish teaching platforms and carry out collaborative training programs in the future.

ZENG Jun and Mercedes renewed the Memorandum of Cooperation on behalf of their respective institutions. Looking forward, both sides will continue to consolidate existing achievements, expand the scope of collaboration, and contribute their collective wisdom to advance the cause of cadre education & training of both countries and join hands to build a community with a shared future for them.

Mileidy Aguirre Díaz, Consul General of General Consulate of Cuba in Shanghai, together with persons-in-charge of relevant departments of SAI, were also present at the meeting.
