On June 13, Shanghai Party Institute (SAI) and the Higher School of State and Government Cadres of Cuba (ESCEG) had exchanges via video. Professor MEI Lihong, Vice President of SPI, and Dr. Fernandez, Rector of ESCEG, attended the lecture and delivered speeches.
MEI Lihong emphasized that giving lectures to trainees in Cuba has become a regular program in the internationalization of Shanghai Administration Institute. It is an important bridge for academic exchanges between the two sides. This time, the lecture focused on “Government Policies for Promoting Innovation in Economic Development”, which is an important topic of great concern to both sides. The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has taken the scientific and technological innovation as an important supporter of high-quality development. Accelerating the efforts to build China into a science and technology giant is also an important goal of Chinese modernization. The government plays a vital role by providing policy guidance to promote the scientific and technological innovation. SAI can share Chinese philosophies, Chinese experience and Chinese practices with international partners, providing references for Cuba to solve relevant problems.
Associate Professor LI Lu from the Department of Economics and Management of our Institute took China’s high-tech industrial development zones as an example, and gave a special lecture on policies introduced by the government to promote innovation in economic development. Fernandez thanked SAI for actively responding to the concerns of Cuba. On the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cuba, the close exchanges would help facilitate the sustainable development of the two countries, improve the well-being of the peoples, and promote the development of the cause of socialism. The Cuban side said that the content of this exchange would be transformed into scientific research results and published in Cuban national journals.
