On October 20, a delegation from the Central Asian Peace Organization and Security Think Tank led by Kajibek Shaikh, Chairman of the Kazakhstan Peace Foundation, visited Shanghai Party Institute of CPC/Shanghai Administration Institute (SPI/SAI). Vice President MEI  Lihong attended the meeting, accompanied by relevant comrades from the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Foreign Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and Foreign Affairs Office of SPI/SAI.

MEI Lihong made a brief introduction to SPI/SAI, focusing on the international education features of SPI/SAI, and reviewed the history of exchanges between SPI/SAI and Central Asian countries. MEI Lihong said that China and Central Asia are good neighbors sharing a common destiny. Exchanges between the two sides were particularly frequent in 2023. The China-Central Asia Summit was successfully concluded and the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation was successfully held. The visit and exchanges are not only part of the efforts to implement Xi’an Declaration of the China-Central Asia Summit, but also a new starting point for cooperation between the two sides. It is hoped that through the exchanges, we can consolidate cooperation with relevant institutions in Central Asian countries, conduct in-depth academic exchanges on dominant disciplines of SPI/SAI, and make contributions to high-quality “Belt and Road” cooperation.

At the exchange meeting, Professor LIU Zhiguang gave a special lecture on building Shanghai into an international science and technology innovation center with global influence. Subsequently, the two sides had in-depth discussions on potential cooperation projects in the fields of cadre training, scientific and technological innovation, politics, economy, culture, ecology, network, etc. Representatives from various countries in the delegation introduced cadre education and training in their respective countries, praised the complete infrastructure of SPI/SAI that ensures the training of high-quality cadres and talent, and fully affirmed the world-renowned achievements made by Chinese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of China through striving in unity.
