On November 14, a delegation of senior cadres led by Nguyen Van Nen, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Party Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City, visited Shanghai Party Institute of CPC (SPI) & Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI). Executive Vice President ZENG Jun, accompanied by officials from the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, and the Foreign Affairs Office of SPI, met the delegation.

Mr. ZENG welcomed Mr. Nguyen and his delegation and gave a brief introduction about SPI and its international programs in particular, and looked back on its history with Vietnam. He said that cadre education and training is a leading, basic, and strategic project for building a team of high-quality cadres; and SPI has always regarded that as its political responsibility and mission. Exchanges with Vietnam are important to the SPI’s international program. Mr. Nguyen’s visit will help both sides have a better understanding of each other, allow them to learn from each other’s good experiences and practices, enhance their friendship, and strengthen their cultural exchanges and cooperation.

Mr. Nguyen thanked SPI for arranging the event. He said that China and Vietnam share many similarities in terms of cadre training, and he hoped this sincere visit, which had been planned for a while, would achieve significant results. Mr. Nguyen applauded China’s reform and opening up and how the government had led the Chinese people to achieve the two miracles of fast economic growth and long-term social stability. He believed that SPI, as the main platform for training CPC leading cadres, sticks to its mission of running the school, conveys and implements the instructions and principles of the CPC Central Committee, focuses on teaching innovation, gathers wisdom of the rank and file, and uses Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to keep the cadres’ enterprising spirit and improve their ability to transform theory into practice; it has played an important role in forging a team of high-quality cadres who can be assigned the major task of modernization.

At the exchange meeting, Professor ZHAO Yong, director of the Division of Teaching Management, gave a lecture on “promoting teaching reform and building a first-class Party institute (administration institute) that matches the status of an international metropolis.” The two sides later discussed topics such as the cadre education and training system, curriculum, funding, and challenges. Both sides said that they will continue their cooperation moving forward and contribute to the exchanges between the two cities.
