On June 15, diplomats participating in the second training session for diplomats from Arab countries in China visited Shanghai Party Institute of CPC.
At the welcoming ceremony, LUO Feng, Provost of Shanghai Party Institute of CPC, welcomed Arab diplomats in China to visit our institute. LUO Feng said that Shanghai Party Institute of CPC is responsible for educating and training officials and conducting theoretical research. It is committed to explaining the successful practices and valuable experience of the Communist Party of China in governing the country. Arab diplomats in China shoulder the glorious mission of promoting friendly exchanges and common development between China and Arab countries. It is expected that the visit to our institute can enhance the exchange of experience in governance between China and Arab countries, and push China-Arab friendship to a new level.

Afterwards, LI Chen, Ambassador of China-Arab States Cooperation Forum Affairs, and LUO Feng, Provost, jointly presented the Arabic version of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China (Volume 3) to the diplomats, which received warm responses from them. Mohammad, a Syrian diplomat, had already read the first two volumes of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China. He said he was very happy to get the third volume. This series of books focus on the CPC’s governance philosophy and strategy. It is very instructive and is the “golden key” for the world to understand China in the new era and the Communist Party of China.
After the book-distributing ceremony, the diplomats visited the institute history museum to learn more about the glorious history of the institute which was established by the Party, thrived with the support of the Party, and grew stronger under the leadership of the Party. The visit aroused strong interest among trainees in the education and training work of the institute, and the building of the official team and the talent team of the Communist Party of China. They said that the success of the Communist Party of China is inseparable from its fine tradition of emphasizing the cultivation of official teams, which is useful experience for Arab countries to draw on.
On the morning of the same day, the diplomats listened to a special lecture titled “Practical Path to Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind: Global Development Initiative” given by ZOU Lei, Associate Researcher of Shanghai Party Institute of CPC, to systematically understand the background, core content, China’s specific measures of implementing the Global Development Initiative, and joint efforts between China and the Arab states to implement the Initiative.
During the exchange and interaction part, the diplomats had in-depth exchanges and discussions on specific issues such as the Global Development Initiative and its influence in Arab countries, and China’s role in promoting the economic and social development of participating countries of the Initiative. They think that China respects the development rights of all countries, including developing countries, and has provided opportunities for global economic recovery and economic development of all countries, which is quite impressive. China’s development experience and successful practices can serve as a good reference for Arab countries. The philosophy of people-centered development is especially worth learning from.
On the afternoon of the same day, PAN Shiwei, Former Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Secretary of the CPC Committee of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, gave a lecture titled “Joint Contribution to the Belt and Road Initiative and China’s Reform and Opening Up: Achievements and Prospects”. He summed up China’s experience and achievements over the past 45 years of reform and opening up from eight aspects, including adhering to an independent development path, adhering to inward-oriented development, adhering to opening up, adhering to reform and innovation, maintaining stability, advocating hard work, excelling at overall planning and forming a strong leadership. He emphasized that China is willing to work with developing countries including Arab countries to optimize the international political and economic order based on their rights to survival and development through unremitting efforts.
The diplomats believed that the joint contribution to the “Belt and Road” Initiative has injected strong impetus into the development of the global economy and provided important opportunities for the development and revitalization of Arab countries. As diplomats in China, they are willing to continuously promote synergy between development strategies of both Arab countries and China and make contributions to promoting the improvement and upgrading of practical cooperation between the two sides.

The diplomats also went to the Bund to enjoy the scenery on both sides of the Huangpu River.
