In the morning of April 14, Shanghai Party Institute (Shanghai Administration Institute) held a thematic education mobilization meeting on the theme of studying and implementing XI Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Comrade XU Jiangang, Executive Vice President of SPI, delivered a mobilization speech. Comrade LI Xinhua, Head of the Second Tour Steering Group for the Thematic Education of XI Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, attended the meeting and gave a speech.

　　XU Jiangang pointed out that it is a major decision made by the CPC Central Committee and an important measure to implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress to launch the thematic educational activity of studying and implementing XI Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. In his important speech at the Central Thematic Education Work Conference, General Secretary XI Jinping profoundly expounded the significance and goals of carrying out the thematic education from the strategic perspective of the overall development of the Party and the country in the new era and on a new journey. He made comprehensive deployments for the thematic education, pointed out the direction of efforts, and provided fundamental principles. All members of SPI shall have a deep understanding of the important speech by General Secretary XI Jinping, carry out the thematic education in a down-to-earth manner with a high degree of political awareness, and pool strength for the new journey. We shall take the thematic education activity as an opportunity to learn and understand the Party’s innovation theory, gain a deep understanding of the decisive significance of the “two establishments” (establishing Comrade XI Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and establishing the guiding role of XI Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era), strengthen the “consciousness in four aspects” (consciousness of the need to maintain political integrity, think in big-picture terms, follow the leadership core, and keep in alignment with the central Party leadership), enhance the “confidence in four aspects” (staying confident in the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics), and achieve “two upholdings” (upholding Comrade XI Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and upholding the Central Committee’s authority and its centralized, unified leadership). We shall closely follow the CPC Central Committee with Comrade XI Jinping at the core in thinking, political stance, and action, further promote the high-quality development of our institute, and make new contributions to country building and national rejuvenation.

　　XU Jiangang emphasized that it is necessary to accurately grasp the goals and tasks of the thematic education, combine them with the actual situation of the institute and strive to make new progress in studying and understanding XI Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Meanwhile, we shall set an example in actively advocating the “two establishments” and achieving the “two upholdings”. We shall make new achievements in cultivating talents and offering suggestions for the Party, assume new responsibilities in learning for the people and doing practical things for the masses, and report new progress in improving conduct, exercising strict school management, and providing quality education. We shall learn more and delve deeper in advance, continuously deepen the understanding of XI Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, grasp the standpoints and methods throughout the Thought, and effectively improve our institute’s ability to cultivate talents and offer suggestions for the Party. We shall further study and implement the spirit of General Secretary XI Jinping’s important speech at the celebration for the 90th anniversary of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee on March 1 and live up to General Secretary XI Jinping’s hopes and expectations for our institute.

　　XU Jiangang requested that we shall unify thinking, improve understanding, and carry out the thematic education activities with a high degree of political consciousness; firmly keep in mind the general requirements, fundamental tasks and specific goals, and adhere to a problem-oriented approach and requirements of “implementation”, and carry out thematic education activities in an orderly manner, and strengthen implementation of responsibilities to ensure that the thematic education will produce tangible results.

　　LI Xinhua pointed out that General Secretary XI Jinping’s important speech at the Central Thematic Education Work Conference has clarified the significance, fundamental tasks, goals, requirements, methods and measures of carrying out the thematic education. The tour steering group will conscientiously study and implement the spirit of General Secretary XI Jinping’s important speeches and instructions. According to the deployment of the central government and the requirements of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, they will step up efforts in five aspects, namely, improving political awareness, grasping overall requirements, focusing on fundamental tasks, adhering to specific goals, and implementing key measures. They will work with the institute in the same direction, enhance collaboration, and strive to solve the same problem, gain a deep understanding of the situation when providing guidance and assistance, put forward work suggestions, provide enough support but refrain from intervening in others’ work, and offer guidance but refrain from doing the work for others; when providing whole-process comprehensive guidance, highlight the key objects, key measures and key requirements, pay attention to discovering and summarizing typical examples, and ensure that the thematic education will produce concrete and effective results.
