In order to commemorate the normalization of China-Japan diplomatic relations, and promote friendly exchanges between Chinese and Japanese cities, on the afternoon of October 14, Shanghai Administration Institute and the Foreign Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government jointly held an international seminar on “Digital Governance and Smart City Construction”. Professor MEI Lihong, Vice President of Shanghai Administration Institute, attended the event and delivered a speech. The seminar also received strong support from the International Relations Department of Economic Strategy Bureau of Osaka City, Smart City Promotion Department of the Digitization Office of Osaka City, Base Development Office of the Urban Planning Bureau of Osaka City, Economic and Trade Representative Office of Osaka in Shanghai, School of International and Public Affairs of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Department of Economics and Management of East China Normal University.
The theme of the first half was “Urban Transformation and Practice Exploration”, which was chaired by Professor DONG Youhong, Director of the Department of Public Administration of Shanghai Administration Institute. Associate Professor YE Lan of the Public Administration Teaching and Research Department of Shanghai Administration Institute, and Fumiko Moriyama, Director of the Smart City Promotion Department of the Digitization Office of Osaka City, respectively introduced the progress of smart city construction in Shanghai and Osaka. Professor PENG Bo from the School of International and Public Affairs of Shanghai Jiao Tong University commented on the speeches of the two speakers.
The theme of the second half was “Technical Change and Governance Innovation”, which was presided over by Associate Professor MA Jiazheng, Deputy Director of the Public Administration Teaching and Research Department of Shanghai Administration School. Moriyama Ayako, Deputy Director of the Base Development Office of the Urban Planning Bureau of Osaka City, and Professor GAO Enxin, Deputy Director of the Department of Economics and Management of East China Normal University, shared their technical and organizational ideas on how to promote urban digital transformation. Associate Professor SUN Zhijian from the Public Administration Teaching and Research Department of Shanghai Administration Institute made comments.
In the final discussion session, the Chinese teachers and students had a lively exchange with Japanese experts on issues such as financial support, government-enterprise cooperation, governance mode and user survey in digital governance and smart city construction.
