From July 25 to 29, Associate Professor YE Lan from the Public Administration Teaching and Research Department attended, on behalf of our Institute, the 2022 Conference of the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA).

Every year, the IASIA holds an annual conference, and the 2022 Conference, with the theme of “Implementing and Promoting Effective Governance Principles to Leave No One, No Place Behind”, was co-hosted by the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) and Mohammed V University in Rabat, Morocco. Due to the global pandemic, it was held online from July 25 to 29. On July 26, at the Session of “Public Sector Human Resource Management”, Associate Professor YE delivered a speech entitled “Predictors of College Students’ Willingness to Alleviate Poverty in Rural Areas in the Post-poverty Alleviation Era”, which aimed to examine the factors that may affect the willingness of college students to go to the countryside and contribute to the rural development under the epidemic situation and rural revitalization. The study showed that gender and professional had little effect on the willingness of the college students, but it found an interaction effect between the realization of the students’ life values and the importance of a decent salary, based on which Associate Professor YE made such proposals as facilitation of the introduction of talents and salary increase.

After the speech, Associate Professor YE also talked with scholars from the University of South Africa, Ecole Nationale Supérieure de l’Administration (ENSA) of Morocco, the North-West University (South Africa), the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (Vietnam), the National Institute of Development Administration (Thailand), Tianjin Administration Institute, etc. She was praised by the participants for giving her opinions about how to help Africa get rid of poverty and sharing the example of the Rural Taobao platform to demonstrate policies, practices, and experience of China’s targeted poverty alleviation.
In addition, as a corporate member of the IASIA, our Institute also participated in the Annual General Assembly held on July 26 to elect the new members of the IASIA Board of Management.
