On the morning of April 16, an all-media series of the Party Lectureson the China’s Capacity: China’s Anti-epidemic Governance was jointly launched by Shanghai Party Institute of CPC (SPI) and Eastday.com with an inaugural ceremony on Eastday.com. The startbutton was pressed jointly by HU Peiyan (Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of CPC Municipal Committee), XU Jiangang (Executive Vice President of SPI), and XU Shiping (President and Editor-in-chief of Eastday.com). The ceremony was chaired by ZENG Jun (Vice President of SPI) and attended by HE Jiliang (CPC Secretary and Chairman of Eastday.com).

    As XU Jiangang noted, the outbreak of COVID-19 put our national governance system and capacity to a major test. Under the leadership of President XI Jinping, the whole country pulled together in the campaign against the epidemic. Currently, our anti-epidemic efforts have produced preliminary results, which fully demonstrated the advantages of the CPC’s leadership and the socialist system with Chinese characteristics. The excellent leadership of the Party and the modeling role of its members we saw in the anti-epidemic campaign will surely go down in history.
XU also pointed out that, as an all-media educational co-production by SPI and Eastday.com, the course is innovative both in content and form and has a very different style from that of previous Party courses. He believed that the course would surely inspire Party cadres and the people’s willanddetermination to advance the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
    When giving a brief on the course, ZENG Jun noted that, in the context of China’s anti-epidemic campaign, guided by the spirit of the 4th Plenary Session of the 19th Central CPC Committee and on the theme of “capacity,” the course would  present an in-depth analysis of the advantages and potential of China’s governance system and capacity and fully highlighted “China’s governance model” against the epidemic which demonstrated the unity of political soundness, rationality and artfulness.

    The course focuses on nine themes --- Party leadership, anti-epidemic spirit, accountability, accurate epidemic control, community epidemic prevention and control, psychological counseling, economic confidence, economic governance and community of shared future --- and covers 50 cases. The course consists of nine lectures: “Party Leadership: Greatest Advantage in the Anti-epidemic Campaign” by CHENG Xi, “Chinas Power: the Anti-epidemic Spirit of a United Nation” by XIAO Peng, “Accountability: the Counterintuitive Actors in the Anti-epidemic Campaign” by LUO Junli, “Accurate Epidemic Control: Fine Management in the Anti-epidemic Campaign” by WANG Zhongqi, “Unity: Building a Strong Anti-epidemic Fort in Communities” by LI Kuan, “Act without Worry: Building a Mental Safety Valve in the Anti-epidemic Campaign” by HE Qi, “Cautious Moves Have More Enduring Effects: Why Are We Confident in China’s Economy?” by HAO Shenyong, “Economic Governance: China’s Economic Advantages Shown in the Anti-epidemic Campaign” by ZHOU Jing, and “Mutual Help: A Real-life Case of Building a Community of Shared Future” by HE Ying.
    From April 16 on, the course will be available on Eastday.com’s all platforms, Xuexi.cn Shanghai and many other well-known media platforms in China.
