On the morning of April 14th, thecentral studying group of the Municipal Party Committee held a studying meeting to hear the featured lecture of "Deepen Learning of Party History, Keep in Mind Original Intention and Mission" given by XU Jiangang, the Executive Vice President of SPI.

    Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee LI Qiang presided over the meeting and emphasized:to achieve success on the road of Long March in the new era, we must look back on the road we've taken, see the road underfoot clearly, and move forward firmly. We must adhere to the guidance of XI Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, carry out in-depth learning and education of the histories of the Party, New China, reform and opening-up, and socialist development, deepen the belief in Marxism, keep the faith in socialism with Chinese characteristics unchanged, and strengthen the confidence in realizing the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. With our firm belief, steadfast faith and strong confidence, we shall pass down the Party’s original intention to our successors, keep the mission in mind, strive to win victory in both epidemic prevention and control and achieving the goals of economic and social development, and do the best to create a new miracle of development in Shanghai in the new era.

    Carrying out the learning and education of the histories of the Party, New China, reform and opening-up, and socialist development is an important way to keep in mind the Party’s original intention and mission. In order to thoroughly implement the core of General Secretary XI Jinping's important instructions, the Municipal Party Committee did some research and formulated a specific implementation plan, taking the histories of the Party, New China, reform and opening-up, and socialist development as an important theme of the learning and education for all the Party members and cadres in Shanghai to guide them to remaining steadfast in their beliefs and faiths, keeping in mind the original intention and mission, and drawing great courage and strength to forge ahead.

    At the meeting, XU Jiangang made a comprehensive and profound interpretation of the in-depth study of the Party's history, combining theory with practice, and history with reality, and focusing on that Shanghai is the birthplace of the Communist Party of China. Centering on how to make good use of the “red”resources, pass on the “red”genes, and carry forward the “red”tradition, XU quoted a large number of vivid and touching historical facts and data cases.

    LI Qiang pointed out that our Party is about to welcome the 100th anniversary of its founding while the world is also facing a major change that has not been seen in a century, and the present COVID-19 epidemic has brought further profound impact. Shanghai is the birthplace of the Communist Party of China, a place where Marxism started to be spread in China, an important base for socialist construction, and a front base for reform and opening-up. So it is of urgent, far-reaching and profound significance for us to enhance the learning and education of the histories of the Party, New China, reform and opening-up, and socialist development. We should try to take one step in advance, study deeper, and effectively strengthen our beliefs, faiths, and confidence, so as to help all the Party members and cadres in Shanghai become more sober and steadfast in mind, and more determined and forceful in action.

     LI Qiang pointed out that our Party has inscribed Marxism on its banner from the day of its birth. In the historical process of the Chinese nation standing up, getting rich and getting strong successively, Marxism has fully demonstrated its mighty power of truth and its great force in practice. We should deepen the belief in Marxism, adhere to the Marxist worldview and methodology, and use the Marxist positions, viewpoints, and methods to analyze and solve practical problems and guide the work of reform, development, and maintaining stability. We should use XI jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the Marxism of contemporary China and the Marxism of the 21st century, to arm our minds, guide practice, and promote work. We should be loyal believers and steadfast practitioners of Marxism on the new journey in the new era.

    LI Qiang pointed out that the history of the Party is a history of exploration about the opening of a path of revolution, construction, and reform that suits China's national conditions. Socialism with Chinese characteristics was created along with the great practice of reform and opening-up. It was created on the basis of the victory of the revolution and the establishment of the socialist system. It is an inevitable choice of the Party and the people after nearly a century of struggle and exploration. We should further strengthen our faith in socialism with Chinese characteristics, truly cherish the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics and unswervingly keep to them in the long run, and stand firm and show a resolute attitude on the issues involving major principles. Shanghai should continuously open up new prospects for the reform and development, do better in international cooperation and competition on behalf of the country, and add new splendor to the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

    LI Qiang pointed out that realizing the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is the unchanging original intention and mission of the Chinese Communists. At present, we are facing "two battlefields": the prevention and control of COVID-19 epidemic and the economic and social development. The more complicated the situation is, the stronger our confidence should be. We should firmly implement the decisions and deployment of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade XI Jinping at its core and unite the effort of everyone in the city to continuously consolidate and expand the increasing stability and improvement in the prevention and control of the epidemic and to accelerate the restoration of economic and social order. And everyone should fulfil his own duty. We should fight, stay strong and win on both battlefields, and make due contributions to realizing the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
