On June 14, Shanghai Party Institute of the CPC held the 70^th anniversary celebration for its establishment. A series of activities including brisk walking, singing competition and revisiting the SPI history demonstrated the faculty-and-staff’s spirit of staying true to our original aspiration, keeping our mission firmly in mind and making progress diligently in the new era.
      In the morning, with a crisp sound of the starting gun, the brisk walking activity themed “walking brings a happy life” got started. Under the guidance of the members of the institute school- affair committee, the faculty and staff kept a formation and walked along the main paths on campus. In the early summer, the campus was beautiful with luxuriant trees, blooming flowers and green lawns. The walking team was marching energetically, vigorously and passionately. The 2.5-kilometre walk demonstrated our staff’s strong faith in the Party and symbolized that we were ready to make painstaking efforts as the Red Army of the Communist Party of China during the 25,000-li Long March and to tackle challenges faced by the Party in the new era.
      In the morning, the singing competition themed “forging ahead together with our motherland” was held in the brightly-lit auditorium with a solemn and enthusiastic atmosphere. LI Bo, a member of the institute school-affair committee and Vice President of the institute, delivered a passionate speech. He pointed out that socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, so has the work of the institute. The new era provides numerous opportunities for strivers, which is an optimal time for the institute members to make greater achievements. He called on everyone to review the glorious course of the Party, pass on the revolutionary spirit, play the main theme of the times, and express the pride of advancing with the times in songs. He encouraged all the members to further consolidate the results made by the institute in its reform with practical actions, and make new achievements with wisdom, enthusiasm and sweat in the new era. Then, 11 choruses consisting of the faculty and staff sang songs such as Me and My Motherland, Ode to the Motherland, My Motherland, Without the Communist Party There Would Be No New China, Unity is Power, Let Us Sway Twin Oars, etc., expressing their aspiration to forge ahead with the motherland in the new era. The flash singing Years and chorus Ode to the Motherland brought the singing competition to a climax. The resounding singing, trendy performance and warm interaction fully demonstrated their passion, creativity and courage to take the responsibility in the new era.
      After the singing competition, SHEN Wei, Executive Vice President of the institute, delivered a speech on the 70^th anniversary celebration. He pointed out that in the past 70 years, our institute shared the same fate with the great Party and motherland. Over the past 7 decades, under the correct leadership of the successive municipal Party committees and municipal people’s governments, with the care and support of the Party School of the Central Committee of the CPC, our institute has adhered to the guidance of Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the important thought of Three Represents, Scientific Outlook on Development and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, conscientiously followed the path, principles and policies of the Party, firmly keeping the correct orientation in running our institute, and carried forward the fine learning style of combining theory with practice. Ultimately, we have shaped a large number of leading and theoretical cadres with strong faith in Marxism, thus to make important contributions to strengthen the political ideology of Party members and build a cadre team with honesty, clean governance and courage to shoulder the responsibility. The institute has become the main channel and stage for training leading cadres in Shanghai, and an important think tank for theoretical innovation and decision-making consultation.

    SHEN Wei stressed that we should take the review of the 70-year history of our institute as part of “Staying True to Our Original Aspiration and Keeping Our Mission Firmly in Mind” thematic education and the 70-year development history as a starting point of the new Long March of the institute. We should keep the original aspiration in mind, shoulder the mission, find the gap and focus on implementation. He made in-depth explanations from three aspects, namely, reviewing the origin of the original aspiration, staying committed to the original aspiration and sparing no efforts in achieving the original aspiration. To achieve these, we need to strengthen the understanding of the theories and make concrete efforts in the link of “learning and education”; insist on seeking truth from facts and closely follow the key point of “finding the gap”, focus on solving problems and highlight important task of “overhaul and implementation”.
     SHEN Wei expressed his hope that each SPI member will uphold mountain-high faith, serve the people as selflessly as the ocean, stay steel-willed in taking their responsibility and work hard with fire-like passion in the future. They should strive to overcome difficulties and forge ahead bravely, so as to fulfill the mission entrusted by the times, the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. They should use the pen of development to depict the future of SPI, leverage the light of wisdom to reflect the spirit of the times and take the three-foot podium to spread the power of truth. He said passionately, “For now and the future, there will be more and more SPI members sticking to their posts, dedicating themselves to work, making contributions selflessly, and continuing to write a new and splendid chapter of SPI!”
     In the afternoon, all the faculty and staff members went to the newly completed Institute History Memorial Hall in batches to carry out activities of revisiting the institute history. Everyone listened carefully to the lectures and thoroughly studied SPI development since its establishment 70 years ago with the help of detailed text materials and rich picture and image materials. From the establishment to re-running, formal operation, big strides in the new century, and efforts to realize the dreams, generations of SPI staff members’ hardworking spirit deeply touched everyone, and made them feel the responsibility on the shoulder better.

      The one-day celebration activities with a clear theme, lively form and good interactions educated and inspired every SPI staff member. They expressed determination to take active exercise and forge ahead with a strong body; work together with each other to march forward in a harmonious team; stay true to the original aspiration and find their own gap with the models with a strong sense of professionalism, and keep in mind the mission and make every effort to achieve success.
