On the morning of March 8, YIN Hong, Deputy Secretary of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and President of Shanghai Party Institute of CPC (hereinafter referred to as SPI) , observed a teaching lecture at SPI and held a discussion with a group of teacher representatives to gain a deeper understanding of the front-line teaching and research.YAN Shuang, Deputy Secretary-General of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, SHEN Wei, Executive Vice President of SPI, XIANG Yihai, Deputy General Director of Research Office of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, and ZENG Jun, Vice President of SPI, were present.

President YIN attended a lecture by the young teacher Dr. Xiao Peng. The lecture was part of the 57thTraining Classfor Young and Middle-aged Cadres.Titled "The Life Experiences and Ideological Paths of Marx and Engels,"the lecture aimed to help the trainees deepen their understanding of the Marxist scientific theory through an introduction to the life experiences and ideological paths of Marx and Engels.During the break, President YIN encouraged the trainees to value this learning opportunity, toget the most out ofthe lecture, to exchange actively and learn from each other so as to fully master the CPC’s theories and achieve remarkable learning outcomes.

At the discussion with teacher representatives, HUANG Lizhi, YUAN Bingda, WANG Gonglong, ZHAO Yong, WANG Qiang, DONG Youhong, TANG Juelan, ZHAO Gangyin, HE Haibing, CHENG Gang, LIU Jing, HE Qi and ZOU Lei, on behalf of Elder, middle-aged and young teachers respectively, gave their own opinions on such topics as the teaching of theoretical courses, teaching politics through academic studies, teaching of cases, and  development of young teachers.President YIN listened to the representatives talks attentively and gave his own opinions from time to time on some specific points.

President YIN said, "I’m here today to hear your opinions and suggestions on how to implement General-Secretary XI Jinpings requirements in his important speech at the National Party School Work Conference, as well as LI Qiangs requirements made during his survey at SPI.Just now, you didexcellent talks. I really appreciate that. I would like to take this chance to thank the faculty of SPI.”

President YIN emphasized that we should focus on studying, promoting and implementing XI Jinpings Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and put great endeavors into the Partys theoretical education and Party consciousness education. The Opinions of the CPC Central Committee on Enhancing the Partys Political Building states clearly that, "To enhance the Partys political building, we must adhere to Marxism as our guiding principal and insist on arming the entire Party and educating the people with XI Jinpings Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era." XI Jinpings Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era is the contemporary Chinese Marxism and the Marxism of the 21st century. We should earnestly fulfill the requirements made in the 2018-2022 National Cadre Education and Training Plan, making XI Jinpings Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era the top priority in our teaching, and keep improving the series of courses on it. "Teaching politics with academics" is a new requirement for the education and training of national cadres in the new era. The teachers of SPI must uphold this concept firmly, give perfect illustrations of the CPC Central Committees requirements with academic framework and academic logic, and go great lengths to develop some model lectures on "teaching politics with academics" so as to drive the overall improvement of teaching quality. We should be problem-oriented, and combine classroom teaching closely with the vivid practices of the current reform, opening-up and innovation in Shanghai. We should actively identify problems, dig deep into the problems, and come up with appropriate solutions, so that we can clear up doubts. We should give more help to young teachers and constantly improve SPIs teaching, research, and counseling capabilities, in the hope of cultivating more master teachers.
