On December 27, the Sino-Turkish seminar on the topic of "Sharing opportunities for development and meeting risks & challenges together" washeld atthe institute. Sabri Tunc Angili, Turkish Consul Generalin Shanghai, attended the seminar and delivered a speech. Vice President GUO Qingsong made the summary at the seminar, which was chaired by Professor CHENG Zhuru of the Department of Scientific Socialism.
Mr. Angili said that China and Turkey both enjoy a long history and splendid culture, and the two countries need more direct face-to-face exchanges to enhance understanding, reach consensus and strengthen cooperation, rather than blindly read the stories told onthe Western media.In addition,the China International Import Expo in Shanghai should be taken as an important opportunity to turn our friendship into a lasting and strong partnership, which will generate benefitsfor both sides and create a win-win situation, thereby make greater contributions to the future development of humankind.
GUOQingsong said that with the Chinese and Turkish experts and scholarsbrainstorming constructive ideas for the future development of the two countries, the Sino-Turkish seminar proves to be productive, successful and fruitful. China and Turkey are both great countries with a long history and there exist broad prospects for cooperation between them in terms of economy, culture and tourism. He believes that through Chinas Belt and Road Initiative and Turkeys Middle Corridor plan, the two countries can achieve mutual integration and common development.
At the seminar, a dozen of experts were present,including Fetcher Alpatekin, Senior Adviser to the President of the Republic of Turkey, Professor Ege Yazgan, Acting Rector of Istanbul Bilgi University, Professor Erhan Aslanoglu, Dean of Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Piri Reis University, Professor TANG Juelan of Department of Economics of SAI, and Dr. ZOU Lei of Shanghai Academy of Development. They gave extensive and in-depth keynote speeches and exchanged ideas on the issues of great concern, such as the prospects and opportunities for investments and trade between China and Turkey, Turkeys foreign and security policy, the construction and development of Chinas pilot free trade zone and the development of theBelt and RoadInitiative under the situation of the China-US trade war.
More than 70 people, including experts and scholars from Turkish universities and administrative departments as well as their counterparts and graduate students from Shanghai Administration Institute, attended the seminar.
