On the morning of November 13, the Instituteheldan all-faculty-and-staff-members meeting to convey the keynote speech by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the opening ceremony of the first China International Import Expo and thespirit of his important speeches during his investigation at Shanghai. The meeting was also a mobilization and deployment to carry out the spirit of General Secretary Xi’s speeches.

Executive Vice-presidentSHEN Wei conveyed the spirit of these speeches by General Secretary Xi, the relevant requirements put forward by LI Qang, Secretary of theShanghai Committee of CPC, and the requirements proposed by YIN Hong, Vice-secretary of the Shanghai Committee of CPC, for the Institutetostrengthen thestudy and implementation of it.

The meeting pointed out that we should conscientiouslystudy and fully understand the significance of these speeches, because they would orient Shanghai’s development in the new era, define its target and entrust it with the major mission. It is of far-reaching significance to Shanghai’s long-term development and is the fundamental follow-up and action guide for Shanghai to do all its work well.

The meeting emphasized that we should be engaged in the study,promotionand implementation of the spirit of the speeches as soon as possible, and accordingly ourideas and action could reach a consonance. The Party organizations at all levels should conscientiously convey and study the spirit of the speechesand the relevant requirements put forward by the Municipal Committee. We should take the spirit of the speeches as an important part of Xi Jinping’s socialist thought with Chinese characteristics in the new era for us to study and implement, as an important part of promoting the normalization and institutionalization of “learning the Party Constitution and regulations and learning Xi’s serial speeches to be a qualified Party member”, carrying out the theme education on“remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind” and launching the theme activities on the Party day, so as to make such study and implementation more profound andpractical, further improve our political position, open our mind, enhance our responsibility, and effectively integrate our ideas and actions into the decision-making and deployment of the Party Centre and the Municipal Committee.

The meeting required that we shouldtransform the study and implementation of the spirit ofthe speeches into a new momentum to promote the development of Shanghai Party Institute. We should do our jobs comprehensively and accurately according to the benchmarks,combine with the plan for next year’s work and the celebration of the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up, to re-examine and re-improve the work of Shanghai Party Institute, strengthen the top-level design and overall promotion, and implement it with effective actions. In the light of the implementation of the new cadre-training plan, we should select and allocate teachers, develop courses, compile textbooks and build relevant training rooms to promote the entry of the spirit of important speeches into textbooks, classrooms and our mind. We should give full play to the role of research institutions such as the Research Center for Xi Jinping’s Socialist Thought with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era in Shanghai, keep close to relevant major subjects, major initiatives and major requirements, strengthen scientific research and decision-making consultation, and serve as a think tank in the promotion of relevant work by the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government. In thestudy and implementation, we shoulddraw drive force to move forward, further consolidate the achievements of inspection and rectification, continue to deepen the reform of the system, promote the implementation of Marxist theoretical innovation projects, start the substantive construction of post-doctoral workstations, so as to present a new look and create a new atmosphere in the development of Shanghai Party Institute, thereby make the city more brilliant with our extraordinary work.
