In the afternoon September 14, a 5-member Dominican delegation paid a visit to Shanghai Administration Institute in the company of relevant leaders from the International Department of Central Committee of CPC (IDCPC) and the Foreign Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government (FAO). MEI Lihong, the dean of SAI, presided over the meeting, in attendance with the head of the SAI Foreign Affairs Division and relevant officials.

MEI Lihong extended her welcome to the delegation and made a detailed description of the general situation, history, curriculum provision, training courses, training methods, training category and education internationalization of Shanghai Party Institute of CPC & Shanghai Administration Institute. MEI Lihong said that the training of the Institute not only focuses on the interpretation of basic knowledge, but also on ability enhancement. Except for the major courses of major disciplines, the Institute focuses on the Shanghai situation, social & economic development and has developed a series of training courses with local characteristics, for example, emergency management, media communication, psychological adjustment, financial operation and history of reform & opening-up in Shanghai, for the purpose of improving the ability of trainees on policy-making communication, emergency management and communication with media. Furthermore, the Institute also signed cooperation agreements with over 40 global institutions to have extensive cooperation in such aspects as visit of academic teams, international conferences, exchange of scientific research and think tank construction. In addition, MEI Lihong introduced to the delegation the situation of grassroots party construction in Shanghai as requested by the IDCPC.

Mr. Miguel Mejia, the head of the Dominican delegation and the minister of the Ministry for Regional Integration Policies of Dominican Republic, expressed his thanks to the Institute for its hospitality. He spoke highly of the practice of Shanghai Party Institute of CPC & Shanghai Administration Institute on training of civil servants, and mentioned his endeavor in the establishment of the Ministry for Regional Integration Policies of Dominican Republic and his attempt to promote the regional integration through education. He said that Dominica is willing to enhance cooperation with Chinese Party schools and administration institutes in training and welcomed Shanghai Party Institute of CPC & Shanghai Administration Institute to send teaching teams to Dominica for lecturing courses about the progress in regional integration in Asia and the like. In addition, Mejia also proposed organizing civil servants of Dominica to receive relevant training at Shanghai Party Institute of CPC & Shanghai Administration Institute so as to expand the bilateral cooperation.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the teaching facilities and training rooms of the Institute.
