A Delegation of Cadres from Political Parties in Several South Asian Nations Paid a Visit to China

From April 19th to 28th, a South Asian delegation made up of 19 members as cadres from 9 political parties in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal visited China at the invitation of the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee, which had commissioned our institute to be responsible for the delegations activities in China.

On April 20th, accompanied by the heads of the SPI Foreign Affairs Office and the Division of External Training, ZENG Jun, the Vice President of Shanghai Party Institute, met all the members of the delegation and gave a brief introduction about the city of Shanghai and our institute.

The visit, under the theme of "Process and achievements of 40-year-long reform and opening-up in China", was done in Shanghai and Yunnan. Thematic presentations, field visits and exchanges were done in the following aspects: Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the basic conditions of China and CPC, "the Belt and Road" Initiative, the relationship between the reform and opening up and the rural economy, poverty alleviation and new rural construction, and the marine economic development and strategy.

During the stay in Shanghai, 6 thematic presentations were given in English by WANG Gonglong, ZHOU Jingqing, WANG Zhiping, WANG Yao and ZOU Lei of SPI who also communicated and exchanged with the members of the delegation. The delegation also went to the Sub-District Committee of Hudong Xin Cun, Pudong New Area, to get to know about the grassroots Party organizational building, experienced the traditional Chinese Wushu culture at Chinese Martial Arts Museum, and watched the achievements Shanghai had obtained through the reform and opening up, and urban construction.

During their stay in Yunnan, the delegation visited Dayingjie Village of Yuxi City and Hongta Group to see how the precision in poverty alleviation and the rural revitalization were going. MA Xuesong, Deputy Director of No.1 Bureau of the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee, made a special trip to Yunnan to hold talks with the delegation. During the talks, the members of the delegation expressed their feelings about the visit, which could be summarized in the following aspects: the development of China was amazing, the warmth and diligence of the Chinese people was impressive; and through this visit, they learned the concrete practice of the Communist Party of China in governing the country, and they envied the system and the institution of the Communist Party of China. Chinas development even included the development of the grassroots. It was the kind of development where each and everyone was making his or her own contribution. They believed that China would become better and better.
