On the morning of November 13, the eighth session of Sino-US Modern Public Administration Advanced Workshop co-organized by Shanghai Administration of Civil Service and Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI) opened.
SAI has been dedicated to running and creating premium-quality training programs by cooperating with top training teams of world-class universities such as the John F. Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University (Harvard Kennedy School) and University of Oxford. Placing great emphasis on the cooperation, Harvard Kennedy School sent its two trainers with rich experience in teaching and research to SAI, who were Edward Cunningham, Director of the China Programs of Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation, and Philip Jordan, Executive Director of the Economic Advancement Research Institute. Taking the case study as the main teaching approach, the workshop focused on the teacher-vs-trainee and trainee-vs-trainee interactions. SAI also provided relevant key courses.
The 5-day session was attended by over 40 trainees from different units of Shanghai. Through the training, they would understand the latest theories on and practices of foreign government administration and public governance, grasp new concepts and approaches of modern public administration and improve leadership and public governance so as to make due contribution to facilitating Shanghai’s development of “Four Centers” (the international economic, financial, trading and shipping centers) and an innovation center of science and technology with global impact as well as grow into a pacesetter for the country’s reform and opening up and a forerunner for innovation-driven development.
