From April 24^th to 25^th, as commissioned by the Training Center of Chinese Academy of Governance, Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI) received a Bangladeshi delegation of middle and senior civil servants for a workshop. The delegation consisted of 24 middle and senior Bangladeshi officials from the Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Land and Resources, Ministry of Food, Ministry of National Defense, to name just a few. Twenty of them were vice-ministerial level officials and the other four were departmental or divisional level officials. Duan Hongxia, Deputy Director of the Training Center of Chinese Academy of Governance, visited SAI along with the delegation.

    On the morning of April 25^th, Mei Lihong, Provost of SAI, met with the delegation and briefed them on the profile of SAI, accompanied by chiefs of the Foreign Affairs Office and the Training Division. Professor Wang Zhiping, Director of the Department of Economics and Management, delivered a lecture for the delegation on Economic Development and Service-Oriented Government in Shanghai. In addition, the delegation visited Shanghai Waigaoqiao No. 3 Power Generation Co., Ltd., China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, Gumei Community School and Pingnan Neighborhood Center for a study tour. The trainees actively interacted and exchanged views with teachers and held lively discussion on the interesting points.

    Mr. Md. Zahir Uddin Ahmed, head of the delegation and assistant secretary of Bangladesh’s Ministry of Public Administration, addressed on behalf of the delegation and expressed gratitude to SAI for the well-arranged tour and excellent teaching. He said that Shanghai Administration Institute, with so many training courses for leaders and officials, was of vital importance to their career development. He added that there were similar national training institutions in Bangladesh as well that would send officials to other developed or neighboring countries for training. Finally he thanked China again for providing high-quality and long-term training projects for the development of Bangladeshi officials.

    As Shanghai was the last stop of the delegation’s study tour in China, the Training Center of Chinese Academy of Governance, held a closing ceremony at SAI and issued the delegates with certificates of completion.
