The 2017 Further-study Class on Modernization of Laotian Governmental Administration at SAI

    As commissioned by the Training Center, Chinese Academy of Governance, Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI) welcomed the 2017 Further-study Class on Modernization of Laotian Governmental Administration on April 22nd. The class consisted of 27 bureau directors-general and divisional directors from the central and local governments of Laos, including the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Prime Minister’s Office, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Liu Gang, Deputy Director of the Training Center, Chinese Academy of Governance, visited SAI along with the class.

    Zeng Jun, Vice President of SAI, met the delegation cordially and briefed them on the profile of SAI, accompanied by heads of the Foreign Affairs Office and the Training Division. Associate Professor Li Meng from the Department of Economics and Management gave a special lecture on the Economic Development in Shanghai. The class had active interactions and exchanged views with teachers on Shanghai’s major achievements and highlighted issues in modernization, how to manage the economy, especially how to achieve management at the central and local levels in terms of the management of state-owned enterprises, how to protect the environments in the rapid economic development, impacts of decreased contribution to GDP by the state-owned enterprises on Shanghai’s economic development, Shanghai’s input of resources in developing the leadership team, and others.

    Keovilay Phengsone, monitor of the 2017 Further-study Class on Modernization of Laotian Governmental Administration, and member of the Standing Committee and director of the General Office of Bokeo, Laos, thanked SAI for the thoughtful arrangement on behalf of the class. He said that Shanghai, boasting beautiful sceneries, was a gateway for China’s Reform and Opening up and the fastest developing area in China. He noted that China’s fast-paced economic development was unprecedented in the human history and that it was worthwhile for Laos to draw on China’s experience and practices in government administration system reform and management innovation. He believed that with what they had learned in China, all the class members would contribute to the economic and social development of Laos.
