Guo Qingsong Met KIPA Delegation

    On April 24, the President of Korea Institute of Public Administration (KIPA) headed a 5-member delegation to visit Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI). Mr. Guo Qingsong, Vice President of SAI, hosted a talk with them.
    Guo welcomed the delegation and briefed SAI’s “1+5” group school-running system. He emphasized that SAI was in charge of the training of comprehensive knowledge and capacity upgrading, while the five branches were responsible for the training in their respective industry characteristics. To be specific, Branch One was responsible for the training of cultural and media sectors, while Branch Two was responsible for the training of law and police system; Branch Three was responsible for the training of city construction, metropolis management sectors, while Branch Four was responsible for the training of technology, education and health system.  And Branch Five was responsible for the training of economy sector and state-owned enterprises. SAI is now undertaking 3 major tasks as public servants training, research and think tank building. Besides, there are also some postgraduate programs in SAI. When talking about the international cooperation programs, Guo said that SAI has maintained relatively stable cooperation partnership with 36 world-renowned universities and training institutes all over the world, among which were Harvard University, University of Oxford, and the National Administration Institute in Germany, France, Italy, Brazil and Argentina. By cooperating and sharing resources with them, SAI was now running many international programs with its partners, which greatly facilitated the faculty in teaching and research. Finally, Guo extended his wish to strengthen cooperation with KIPA in terms of comparative study, academic research, visiting scholar, international conference, in order to promote the mutual development.
    Yoon-Soo JUNG, President of KIPA, expressed his gratitude for SAI’s receiving. He mentioned that he had been in Shanghai for 7 times, and Shanghai was his favorite city in China. He then made a detailed introduced of KIPA’s departments, researching fields, and international cooperation programs. He pointed out that KIPA was the only national-level institute of public administration in Korea. With abundant researching resources, KIPA was pleased to enhance mutual exchange in academic studies and government decision-making consultation as well as international conferences between each other, to promote the common interest in governance studies.
    The KIPA delegation also toured around the campus and visited the teaching facilities in SAI.
