Entrusted by the Training Center of Chinese Academy of Governance, Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI) provided trainings for the Teacher-Training Seminar of Ethiopia Federal Meles Zenawi Leadership Academy on April 6 and 7. The seminar consisted of 25 intermediate and senior-level civil servants of Federal Meles Zenawi Leadership Academy in Ethiopia, among whom, one at the vice-ministerial level and 24 at the departmental or division-level. Mr. LIU Hongyi, director of the Training Center of Chinese Academy of Governance, accompanied the class to pay a visit to SAI and was received by Mr. SHEN Wei, executive vice president of SAI. 

    Accompanied by the chief of the External Training Division, Mr. ZENG Jun, vice president of SAI, received the trainees warmly on the afternoon of April 6, and briefed the trainees on the basic information of SAI and exchanged opinions with them on the implementation of training and the curricula of training programs at SAI.

    Ms. WU Mingzhi, associate professor of Huangpu District Administration Institute, was invited to present the whole process of on-the-spot teaching, introducing modern training methods and approaches to the trainees from three perspectives. According to Ms. WU Mingzhi, the on-the-spot teaching was based on three background factors including the actual demand for innovative teaching methods, the vivid practice in the creative industrial cluster zone within the region, and the focus on the key issues and highlights of economic development of the district, so as to promote teaching through scientific research, consisted of four content modules including theoretical analysis, case study, site investigation, and mutual exchanges, and should achieve three results including the integration of perceptual cognition and rational thinking, that of one-way communication and multi-way interaction, and that of enhancement in theories and innovation in ideas. During the training, the trainees also watched introduction videos on training course development of SAI and visited in turn four training rooms respectively for emergency management, media communication, financial operation, and psychological adjustment courses. And four teachers, DONG Youhong, ZHAO Yong, LI Dunrui, and LIU Hengchao, respectively introduced their own training courses and had enthusiastic exchanges with the trainees.

    Mr. TSEGAYE MAMMO, monitor of the seminar and vice president of Federal Meles Zenawi Leadership Academy in charge of international relations and exchanges, expressed his gratitude on behalf of all the trainees to SAI for the elaborate arrangement. Amazed by the rapid development of China, He said that what he had seen and heard during this visit to China was beyond his imagination. He figured out that one secret of such success lies in Chinas emphasis on the training of cadres, which is essential to the future of the country. As Ethiopia also faces the challenge of fostering cadres, Federal Meles Zenawi Leadership Academy has been attaching importance to international exchanges and learning from successful experience of other countries since its establishment 3 years ago, as an attempt to improve the leadership of Ethiopian civil servants. He also expressed his hope to have more cooperation and exchanges with SAI.

    Besides, some trainees of the seminar, accompanied by the staff of the Division of Information Management, paid a visit to the information technology facilities and learned about their operation and support.
