Commissioned by the training center of Chinese Academy of Governance, SAI ran a 2016 Further-Study Class for Venezuelan Mid & Senior Civil Servants, who came for research and study. The class was composed of 26 mid & senior officials from various government departments of Venezuela, including the Ministry of Government Planning, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, the Ministry of Technology and Higher Education, the Ministry of Ecology and Water Resources, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On the morning of 28th October, accompanied by chiefs of the Foreign Affairs Office and Division of External Training, Vice President ZENG Jun warmly met the class trainees, and took group photos with the trainees to mark the occasion. LI Meng, associate professor of the Department of Economics and Management, gave a lecture on "Economic Development of Shanghai" to the trainees. In the afternoon on 28th and the morning on 31th, the trainees respectively visited Shanghai Electric Lin Gang Manufacturing Base. The visit to the workshop of the Lin Gang Base helped them learn more about the development of Shanghai electric industry, and the manufacturing of steam turbine generator unit. Meanwhile, they also visited China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone and had a field-based teaching to better-understand its development. The trainees and teachers actively exchanged ideas with each other, and had a lively discussion.
Mr. Linares Gonzalez Brut Oswaldo, the monitor of the training class and Director General of the Ministry of Government Planning of Venezuela made a speech on behalf of the class to express his gratitude to Shanghai Administration Institute for the considerate arrangements and warm reception. He indicated that through the research and study, they had already gained some understanding of the economic development of Shanghai, and benefited a lot from the detailed introduction of the teachers to things concerning the fiscal revenues, talent policies, social welfare, etc. in Shanghai. He said Venezuela has abundant minerals and natural resources, but its industrialization is insufficient and domestic consumption is relatively high. He hoped that by strengthening communication and exchange, they could learn more experience in handling those from China.
