On Sept. 26th, a delegation of 5 members from the University of Rome Tor Vergata (UTV) paid a visit to Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI). The delegation, commissioned by the Rector of UTV, aimed at exploring cooperation possibilities, and promoting academic exchange and joint training programs with SAI. Prof. Guo Qingsong, Vice-President of SAI, hosted the meeting.
Prof. Giovanni Tria, a former president of Italy National School of Administration (SNA), headed the delegation. He initiated his cooperation with SAI as early as in 2010, when SAI signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SNA during his presidential mandate. A series of productive programs including official visits, civil servants trainings, scientific research, academic meetings and symposiums have been jointly carried out by the two institutes since then. This time, as Head of the School of Government of UTV, Prof. Tria was committed to continue this good UTV-and-SAI cooperation relation.
Prof. Guo Qingsong gave an overall introduction of the basic information about SAI’s campus and faculty, the “1+5” integrated operation system, the general school-running features as well as the major functions and tasks of SAI. He said that with years of unremitting efforts and hard work, SAI has made extensive accomplishments in fields of economics and policy-making consultation, government procurement, corruption prevention management, sustainable development governance, leadership training, etc. SAI pays high attention to its internationalization and openness, and has established a relatively stable cooperative relationship with 35 foreign official training institutes and globally renowned universities including Harvard and Oxford University. SAI is willing to collaborate with UTV in cultural heritage management, health and pension systems management, public policies impact analysis and evaluation, which are specialties of the latter. Moreover, based on this well-founded commencement, it is feasible for the two institutions to extend cooperation fields, and thus help to further accumulate quality teaching resources, and constantly enhance internationalization and training effectiveness of SAI.
During the meeting, they went into depth about some specific articles of the cooperation agreement, and expressed their wishes to sign the memorandum as soon as all the articles would be confirmed by respective leadership.
