On the morning of August 31, Shanghai Party Institute of CPC and Shanghai Administration Institute held 2016 Autumn Convening Ceremony at the Auditorium of Shanghai Party Institute of CPC. XU Zezhou, member of the Standing Committee and head of Organization Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and President of Shanghai Party Institute of CPC attended the ceremony and emphasized on the ceremony that the leaders and cadres should play an exemplary role in “staying true to the mission and keeping going forward” in the following five aspects including history, belief, responsibility, principle and standards when he mobilized the trainees to learn and stick to the spirit of the Important Speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping on July 1. SHI Guanghui, Deputy Mayor and President of Shanghai Administration Institute, hosted the ceremony. WANG Guoping, Executive Vice-President of Shanghai Party Institute and Vice-President of Shanghai Administration Institute expounded teaching arrangements.

    XU Zezhou pointed out that first we should keep on moving from generation to generation while keeping in mind the history. We should have a deep understanding of the theme and mainstream of the historical development of our Party and continue to deepen the understanding of law of the development of human society, rules of socialist building and the governing rules of CPC so as to cherish this good and hard-won situation. Secondly, we should stick to our belief and move forward with a firm stand and self-confidence. We should be more confident and determined and pay more attention to theoretical study. Thirdly, we should not forget about our responsibilities and move forward by sticking to the goal and taking on responsibilities bravely. We should correctly grasp the development law and carry out our work with a positive attitude by adapting to the current trend. We should stimulate our best state of mind to bravely undertake our responsibilities. With the big picture in our mind, we should work hard with a down-to-earth attitude. Fourth, we should not forget about the aim and move on by thinking for the public and serving the people. We should bear in mind that “it is our goal to fight to satisfy people’s yearning for good life.” We should stick to respecting the public, depending on the public, and mobilize the initiative, proactivity and creativeness to the maximum. And fifth, we should not forget the standards and move on by keeping pure and pursuing for excellence. In particular we should have a strong awareness of keeping up with the excellence and observing rules to enhance the Party spirit and consciousness.  

    XU Zezhou stressed that, as the cradle of the revolution and birthplace of the Party, Shanghai should carry its natural “red” gene. As the cadres in Shanghai, we should always think of the power bestowed by the land with glorious tradition of revolution, the glorious mission—“To serve as a vanguard and pioneer in reform, opening-up and innovation”—required by CPC and the great expectation that the citizens of the whole city place on us in our daily work. We should not forget the road we are taking and the reason why we started this cause. We should blend the red gene into our blood and mind, and more importantly, transform it into the building of a socialist and international metropolis and play an exemplary role in practicing the new concepts, new thoughts and new strategies of governance put forward by General Secretary Xi. We should take learning at the Party institute as a rare opportunity provided by the Party for everyone to “return to his mission”, transform his role as soon as possible to settle down to learn diligently, whole-heartedly and deeply and reflect what we have learnt on the implementation of the roadmap, principles and policies of the Party, on the improvement of the Party spirit and consciousness and the fulfillment of duties and responsibilities so as to absorb practice motive to keep moving on. We should further give play to the role of Party institutes of CPC as the main channels to educate and train cadres, stick to the principle that the most important nature of a Party institute is the education of the Party Spirit and focus on the major works and main courses. In particular, currently, we should make General Sectary’s July 1 Important Speech as the important content in education and trainings of cadres and try to internalize the essence of the speech and display it in actions as well.

    CHEN Hao, head of the Organization Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Vice-President of Shanghai Party Institute of CPC and Vice-President of Shanghai Administration Institute, LI Bo, GUO Qingsong and ZENG Jun, vice-presidents of Shanghai Party Institute of CPC and Shanghai Administration Institute were seated on the rostrum. Trainees of seven classes including the 102^nd Refresher Class for Leading Cadres, the 52^nd Training Class for Young and Middle-aged Cadres, 2016 Training Class for Shanghai Non-Party-member Young and Middle-aged Cadres, the 61^st Rotary Training Class for Division-Level Leading Cadres in Party and Government Organizations, the 85^th Post Training Class for Public Servants newly promoted to the Division Level, the 60^th Refresher Class for Cadres in Discipline Inspection and Supervision Division and the 13^th Workshop for Private Entrepreneurs of High-level Talents of New Economic Organizations and New Social Organizations, persons-in-charge of relevant departments of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Shanghai Municipal Government, cadres at the middle level or above of Shanghai Administration Institute and its branch institutes, and all the teachers on the main campus and the main persons-in-charge of the branch institutes, more than 500 in total, attended the opening ceremony.
