SPI's No. 5 Branch Had the Forum Entitled “Shanghai Entrepreneur Forum----Virtues and Wisdom of Chinese People

    On May 27, No. 5 Branch of Shanghai Party Institute held a forum entitled “Shanghai Entrepreneur Forum ---- Virtues and Wisdom of Chinese People”. On the forum, BAO Pengshan, a professor of Shanghai Open University, a part-time professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, a member of the Academic Council of China Confucius Foundation, and a main lecturer of Lecture Room (CCTV), presented a report entitled “Virtues and Wisdom of Chinese People”.

    ZHOU Ping, Vice President of SPI's No. 5 Branch, presided over the forum. More than four hundred people attended the forum, and they came from No. 9  Senior Training Class of Business Operators and Managers of Shanghai, No.11 Training Class of Youth Managers from the Party Committee of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, No. 12 Training Class of Young and Middle-aged Managers from the Party Committee of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, No. 2 Training Class of Youth Managers from Council Members, No. 22 Training Class of Directors, No. 28 Training Class of Supervisors, Business Administration Class for Shanghai Jiaoyun Group Co., Ltd. and Training Class of Strategy Innovation for Scientific and Technological Development of Yunnan, members of the center group of the School and members of the Entrepreneurs Forum.

    Centering on the important thoughts of “doing virtuous things without expecting for good return, and treating people righteously without being blessed with luck” in the traditional moral system of China, the wisdom cultivation model of “self-reflection and putting oneself in the place of others”, and interpretations of ancient Confucian classics and records and comments of ancient wise men like Confucius and Mencius, Professor BAO vividly propagated the moral judgment standard of “human being good by nature”, advocated the spirit of undertaking as presented in the ancient saying of “who else except me can bring peace to today's world”, and demonstrated the humane glory of traditional Chinese virtue of “die as a martyr because of justice” in a very proper and logic way. Meanwhile, Professor BAO, standing on the height of modern life philosophy and analyzing moral issues and pre-moral issues, put forward that Chinese people should base the moral practice on the principle of “human being good by nature”, become aware of the responsibility and mission of “being a good person”, and strive for the life wisdom of “men of noble character are always in pursuit of justice and righteousness”.

    With his unique humanity thinking and a solid theoretical foundation, Professor BAO provided the audience with a path full of philosophical speculation and interest to understand the “heritage” of virtuousness and national wisdom in Chinese tradition and to explore the humanity and great human dignity of ancient wise men. His speech reflected the ideological consciousness of excellent cultural achievements of Chinese people, represented the academic level in tracing and explaining the historical source of core socialist values, and provided a chance for audience to absorb thought nutrient and achieve better personal culture, which resulted in a spiritual enjoyment for the audience.
