2016 Pakistani Public Administration Class at Shanghai Administration Institute

    According to the arrangement by the Training Center of Chinese Academy of Governance, the 2016 Pakistani Public Administration Class came for further study at Shanghai Administration Institute from May 16th to 17th. The class members consisted of 19 officials at the director general and director level from the Pakistani government.

    On the morning of 16th, the provost of the institute MEI Lihong met the class warmly, and gave a brief introduction of the institute. The chiefs of the Foreign Affairs Office and Training Division were present at the meeting. Professor JU Lixin, the executive vice-chief of Shanghai Development Research Institute presented a lecture in English, titled “New Development of Shanghai’s Economy and Society Under New Situations”, which was divided into three parts: Shanghai’s achievements in economic and social development, the bottlenecks and challenges, and the strategies for future development. Besides, the class visited the Administrative Service Center of Xuhui District to learn about the office mode of “Internet + Government Administration”, and experienced the government administrative service by of online and offline integration; they visited Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) where they boarded the demo plane of C919 large-sized passenger plane and learned about the development of COMAC; they went to China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone and visited its comprehensive service hall, getting to know about the reform and trial of the Pilot Free Trade Zone.

    On behalf of the class, HAFEEZ ULLAH SHEIKH, head of the 2016 Pakistani Public Administration Class and Joint Secretary of the Senate Secretariat of Islamabad in Pakistan, expressed their appreciation for the institute’s elaborate arrangement, and introduced the basic conditions of national and local Pakistani administration institutes. He said, the visit to China with the training class not only enabled them to learn about Chinese places of historic interests and cultural knowledge, but also the way how China’s diplomatic policies and public administrative policies were formulated, how Chinese Government operated highly efficiently, and how Chinese civil servants worked; as one of neighboring countries, Pakistan and China shared many similarities in terms of experience and culture, and he hoped the friendship between the peoples of the two countries would last forever.
