2016 Public Management Workshop of Maldivian Civil Servants & 2016 Public Administration Workshop of Central and Eastern European Civil Servants at Shanghai Administration Institute

    Entrusted by Chinese Academy of Governance, Shanghai Administration Institute held the 2016 Public Management Workshop of Maldivian Civil Servants and the 2016 Public Administration Workshop of Central and Eastern European Civil Servants from April 6 to 7. The workshop consisted of 27 officials at the sub-ministry department or division level from 7 countries including Maldives, Albania, Bulgaria and Czech Republic and so on. JIANG Wei, Vice Director of the Training Center of Chinese Academy of Governance accompanied the workshops during the visit to our institute.

    On the morning of April 6, MEI Lihong, Provost of Shanghai Administration Institute met the members of the workshops and introduced the basic situation of the Institute. Professor RONG Zhi of SAI Public Administration Department gave a lecture in English, entitled “The Practices and Experience of Shanghai Public Administration and Public Service”. The participants made an in-depth discussion with the professor on the following issues: the construction of Shanghai Disney Land, tariff, private housing, social security of low-income groups and college education. On the afternoon of April 6 and the morning of April 7, the workshop had on-the-spot teaching in China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone and Xuhui Sub-district so as to get to know about pilot reforms in the Pilot Free Trade Zone and government purchase of services of social organizations.

    SINAN HUSSAIN, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture, the monitor of the 2016 Public Management Workshop of Maldivian Civil Servants, and Ms. PASKALI BRUNILDA, the monitor of the 2016 Public Administration Workshop of Central and Eastern European Civil Servants and Deputy Mayor of Tirana, Albania, spoke on behalf of their group respectively, expressing their gratitude to the hospitality from Shanghai Administration Institute. Both of them said that they had come afar and learnt a lot from the experience China had. In addition, the experience-sharing and learning during the training was helpful to deepen the relationship between the countries and the peoples.

    The directors of the Foreign Affairs Office and the Training Division were present at the meeting.
