SCO Senior and Intermediate Civil Servants Research and Study of Economic Growth in Shanghai Administration Institute

    Entrusted by the Training Center of Chinese Academy of Governance, Shanghai Administration Institute received senior and intermediate civil servants from countries of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to research and study on the economic growth from December 10th to 11th. The class consisted of 20 officials at department and division levels from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. LIU Gang, a vice-director of the Training Center of Chinese Academy of Governance accompanied the class on the visit to the institute.

    In the morning of 10th, MEI Lihong, Provost of Education, warmly welcomed the students and introduced them the general information of the institute. Heds of Foreign Affairs Division and Training Division accompanied in the meeting. CHEN Yongming, Professor at the teaching-research department of economics presented a speech themed “The current situation and developing experience of Foreign Trade and Investment in Shanghai”. The students were engaged in enthusiastic communication and interaction with the teacher on questions of GDP growth, Shanghai’s employment growth, formulation of “One Belt, One Road” strategy, and enterprise permanent residence in the free trade zone. In the afternoon, the students visited China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone. XIE Weimin, General Manager of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone Investment Industrial Co., Ltd. introduced and interacted with the students on the situation of regional economic growth and free trade in Shanghai in terms of national strategy, systematic innovation, controllable risks, replicable and promotable procedures, and regional scope.

    On the 11th, the students visited Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) and Airport Heavy Machinery Manufacturing Base of Shanghai Electric Group Co., Ltd.In COMAC, they entered the Design and R&D Center in the integrated lab building where they boarded the prototype of C919----China’s first domestically designed and manufactured airliner; in Shanghai Electric, the study group visited the production line of the airport factory and learnt how the steam turbine generator sets are manufactured. After the two-day course, the students gave feedback as-the course prepared by Shanghai Administration Institute contains great teaching details and contents with great creativity. Gains from the course and the realization of their expected goals have marked the success of their Shanghai trip.

    Mr. Кайырберли Канат, class monitor of the research and study course as well as Deputy Director of the Center for Strategic Research and Analysis of Kazakhstan President General Office (заместитель заведующего центра стратегических разработок и анализа администрации президента Республики Казахстан) expressed his gratitude to the generous hospitality of the institute on behalf of the whole class. He said, having the opportunity studying in the city of fast development helped them further understand the history and social development of Shanghai, in a sense, enabled them to better understand the economic growth and better learn the construction experience of building financial center, navigation center and free trade zone in Shanghai. He also hopes that apart from the communication and interaction at national and institutional levels, communication can also go along at personal level.
