Entrusted by the Training Center of Chinese Academy of Governance, the 2015 training class for public administration was held at SAI on October 26th. The training class was the one that was combined into by the three 2015 training classes of the Asian civil servants’ public administration, of the South African civil servants’ public administration and of the ASEAN public administrative reform and civil servant ranks’ capability building. The class consisted of 62 government officials from six countries including Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Jordan, South Africa, Indonesia, and Laos, of whom 11 were at the department or bureau director level and the rest 51 at the section chief level. Ms. Cheng Cize, Deputy Director of the Training Center of Chinese Academy of Governance, accompanied the class on the visit to the institute.
On the morning of the day, Mei Lihong, Provost of SAI, accompanied by the heads of the Foreign Affairs Division and the Training Division, warmly met the trainees, briefing on the general information of the institute. Professor Wang Zhiping, Director of the Department of Economics, gave a lecture in English entitled “the Course and Inspiration of Shanghai’s Opening up and Reform”, and then interacted with the trainees on the questions raised by them, such as the development opportunities of coastal cities, the gap between the rich and the poor and services concerning foreign affairs. In the afternoon, the trainees visited China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, where Jiao Jian, Director of Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone Office, introduced to them the circumstances of the free trade zone since its operation two years ago. Later, they visited the comprehensive service hall and got the first-hand experience of the “one-stop” public service mode.
Mr. Samarasingha Dissanayake Wasantha, the monitor of the training class of the Asian civil servants’ public administration and Director of Sri Lanka Employees Trust Fund Committee, remarked, “This is a valuable training, in which what we have learned will be helpful in our future careers.”Ms. MARY LEDUMISA LEDWABA, the monitor of the South African training class and Dean of International Relation of the Administrative Institute of South Africa, expressed her gratitude for the institute’s hospitable reception and considerate service, and commented that the training enabled them to have a better understanding of the achievements of the economic development of Shanghai and the construction of the free trade zone. She also expressed her hope that both parties could learn from each other and have more exchanges in terms of human resources and management in the future. Mr. MEKDALA BOUNTHANOM, the monitor of the ASEAN training class and Section Chief of Planned Investment and International Cooperation Department of Laos, expressed that they not only learned more about the development stages and features of the institute, but also got more knowledge of the economy and reform of Shanghai, all of which would be helpful for their country’s future economic development. All the trainees of the training class appreciated that the lectures given by teachers were quite excellent, they acquired much from the field teaching, and the knowledge and information learned by them was very beneficial to them.
