On June 3, Guo Qingsong, Vice President of Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI), met the Consul General of Consulate General of the Swiss Confederation in Shanghai.
Guo briefed SAI by its three features: group school-running system as 1+5, globalization education and integration of teaching, research and consultation. As for the group school-running system, Guo pointed out that the main campus of SAI provides comprehensive trainings for over 2000 officials at director-general level and 20000 public servants at director level in Shanghai. The 5 branches are responsible for the training in the following public sectors respectively: cultural and government publicity, politics and laws, urban construction and transportation, science and technology & education and healthcare, economy management and state-owned enterprises, highlighting industry characteristics. As for globalization education, Guo emphasized that SAI has maintained relatively stable cooperation partnership with about 30 well-known universities and training institutes all over the world, such as Harvard University and Oxford University, carrying out programs extensively in public servants training, research, visiting scholars, bilateral and international conferences, and postgraduate-exchange programs. As for the integration of teaching, research and consultation, it means that SAI performs three main tasks: offering quality training for Party and government public servants, doing research work in philosophy and social sciences, and providing consultation for government decision-making. In order to promote the development of the three functions simultaneously and coordinately, SAI adopts modern training methods including on-the-spot teaching, case study, seminar and symposium, scene simulation. Besides, SAI is now running four simulation training labs: emergency management, media communication, psychological adjustment and financial operation.
The Consul General of Consulate General of the Swiss Confederation in Shanghai, Mr. Alexandar Hoffet, expressed his gratitude to SAI for the warm reception. He said that this was the first time for him to visit SAI after he took office in October, 2014. He spoke highly of the mutual cooperation between universities in Switzerland and SAI in the fields of public servants training. He also mentioned that there were several Swiss public institutions in Shanghai, such as Pro Helvetia, Swissnex China and Swiss Business Hub (SBH), which played the function of friendly exchanges and he would actively promote the exchanges between Switzerland and China in the fields of culture, education, business, and scientific technology.
