On June 18, Wang Guoping, Executive Vice President of Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI), met a delegation of Algeria headed by the Vice Minister of the Algerian Ministry of Interior and Local Authorities.
Wang expressed his warm welcome for the delegation, and then detailed the civil servants training, academic research, consultation for government decision-making and internationalized school-running of SAI. He focused on the senior training programs of SAI and shared his new thought: for one thing, SAI will go on offering civil servants training with the aim to improve the students’ ability of governance. For another, SAI will make civil servants training serve as a higher platform for promoting government work. Specifically speaking, SAI will deliver specially-designed seminar programs with two or three day’s duration for the core concerns of government work on certain fields, and the Vice Mayer in charge of this field will take part in the program-designing and the corresponding government officials would get together to discuss about the government concern and seek solutions for it. Right now SAI is launching the initiative of such program as Synthesized Market Administration and will develop more trials. The Mayer of Shanghai, Mr. Yang Xiong, spoke highly of this program and emphasized that SAI should be a platform for promoting government work. Finally, Wang introduced the internationalized education of SAI: SAI has been maintaining relatively stable cooperation partnership all over the world, such as Harvard University, University of Oxford, Italian National School of Governance (SNA) and Singapore’s Civil Service College (CSC). They are carrying out extensively exchanges in terms of public servants training, joint academic research, visiting scholars, bilateral seminars and international conferences.
ADLI Ahmed, Vice Minister of the Algerian Ministry of Interior and Local Authorities, extended his gratitude to SAI for the warm reception. He said that it was the first time for the delegation to visit China. Before coming to Shanghai, the delegation had learned about some general information about China’s civil servants training and government consultation in Chinese Academy of Governance (CAG). The administration institute in Algeria performs similar functions such as providing consultation service in city construction and development projects. He hoped to maintain good relationship with China in civil servants training and was planning to send training delegations of Algerian officials to China to receive training. Meanwhile, he expressed his wish to strengthen exchanges in learning from each other’s advanced training experience to achieve the win-win effect.
The delegation also took a field visit to the teaching facilities of SAI after the meetingm, accompanied by Wang Guoping.
