Under the entrustment the Training Center of the Chinese Academy of Governance (CAG), the 2015 Cuban Further Studies Class for Chinas Experience in Industrial Development visited Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI) from May 18 to 19. The further studies class aimed at helping the participants of the class to learn more about the basic situation and experience in Chinese industrial development. The class consisted of 25 senior civil servants from the Ministry of Industry of Cuba, including 1 official at the vice-ministerial level, 17 at director-general level and 7 at division-director level. The heads of the Foreign Affairs Division and the Training Division of SAI were in company in meeting the further studies class. CHENG Cize, Deputy Director of the Training Center of CAG, visited SAI together with the class.
MEI Lihong, Dean of SAI, warmly received the class, gave a basic introduction to SAI and had lunch with the participants on May 18. MEI Lihong stressed that it was an experience with both rationality and sensibility by attending the special lectures and having Chinese lunch for the visitors from Cuba, from which they could have a deeper and better understanding about the economic development and cultural connotation of Shanghai.
On the same day, Professor WANG Zhiping from the Economics Teaching and Research Department of SAI introduced Shanghais experience in development of reform and opening-up and exchanged different ideas about relevant problems with the trainees. In the two days, the class were arranged to visit Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. in Shanghai to learn about the experience in the reform of state-owned enterprises, to Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Company Limited to have the knowledge of China’s experience in business development and management innovation of industrial enterprises, and to Shanghai Jiale Co., Ltd. to learn about the current development of the textile industry in Shanghai.
Mr. Eloy Alvarez Martinez, monitor of the class and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry of Cuba, expressed on behalf of the whole class, "Cuba sent this delegation of the Ministry of Industry to China with a specific aim to learn from China’s advanced and well-developed experience and put it into practice in Cuba. We are so grateful to Shanghai Administration Institute for the warm reception and the course. The two-day course will not only further enhance the industrial contact and cooperation between the two countries but also consolidate the most sincere friendship between people of the two nations.
