On April 8, Wang Guoping, Executive President of Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI) met the Consul General of Consulate General of the Kingdom of Sweden in Shanghai.
Wang introduced the general outline of SAI and the mode of group school-running system as 1+5. Shanghai Administration Institute performs four major functions, namely, teaching, academic research, think tank and postgraduate programs. The training objects include Party leaders, government officials, enterprise managers and NGOs. SAI has formed its distinct teaching methodology featuring lecture-giving, case study, on-site teaching, group discussion, and simulation training, and it has been making every effort to build up its strong academic research strength in major projects of philosophy and social sciences. Wang pointed out that SAI has a developed relatively stable cooperation partnership with 28 well-known universities and training institutes all over the world, such as Harvard University and Oxford University. SAI adopts multi-level cooperation modes, including exchanging visiting scholars, inviting foreign experts to deliver lectures, sending training groups abroad for further study, designing training programs for overseas trainee groups, and hosting bilateral and multilateral conferences jointly. Due to the contribution of Prof. Hudson of Oxford and Prof. Saich of Harvard, both of them have been rewarded the Shanghai Magnolia Award, a top prize of Shanghai Municipal Government.
The Consul General of Consulate General of the Kingdom of Sweden in Shanghai, Ms. Viktoria Li, expressed her gratitude to SAI. She was glad to know that SAI plans to visit Gothenburg University in Sweden this year, and spoke highly of the mutual cooperation between Gothenburg University and SAI in the fields of official training and public administration. She said that Gothenburg and Shanghai, a pair of friendly cities had implemented many projects based on the close ties. Sweden has perfect social systems and is going well in social and economic development, and she was especially interested in Shanghai’s ongoing goal of constructing the Innovation Center for Science and Technology. She hoped to strengthen the cooperation ties with SAI by means of delivering reports, launching academic seminars and sharing joint publications to get more knowledge about China’s development.
