On December 3rd, 2014, the special advanced-study class of Human Resource Management and Competence Building for Senior Public Servants in the Republic of the Maldives came to Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI) for study and training under the entrustment of the training center of Chinese Academy of Governance.
Following the state visit of Mr. XI Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, to Maldives in September this year and escalation of bilateral relationship of both countries to a comprehensive friendly partnership oriented to the future, the advanced study and training of the representatives of senior public servants of Maldives at SAI signified the first visit of Maldives senior officials to China.
The class comprises 27 students, including 3 officials at the vice-ministerial level, 7 officials at the deputy-ministerial level and 17 at the division level. All of them are senior officials from various ministries and commissions of the Maldives Government, such as the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the Commission for Judicial Affairs, the Commission for Public Servants and Training Institute for Public Servants. Ms. CHENG Cize, Deputy Director of the Training Center of Chinese Academy of Governance, also accompanies the class to visit SAI.
On the same day, Mr. ZENG Jun, Vice President of SAI, met the participants of the class and gave an introduction of urban positioning of Shanghai as well as the brief of SAI. Mr. GAO Liang, President of SPI No. 3 Branch gave an overview of cadres’ education and training in Shanghai, Mr. ZHUANG Wei, Director of Assessment and Rewards Division of Shanghai Administration of Civil Service, briefed the recruitment, assessment and welfare treatments of civil servants in Shanghai. In the afternoon, the participants had the opportunity to visit the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone.
Mr. Adbulla Naseer, the class head and Secretary-General of the Ministry of Fishery and Agriculture of Maldives, said on behalf of the class that it was a great honor to visit China for the first time as a representative of senior civil servants of the Maldives and it was also very happy to come to SAI on the sixth day of the China trip and listen to the experience of the civil servant training, management and remote education in Shanghai. The orientation of Shanghai experience served as great benefits for all members in the class. He also firmly believed that the visit would lay a solid foundation for relevant organizations in both countries to carry out practical cooperation and build more opportunities for development.
