Upon the seventh anniversary of the establishment of Friendship Cities between Shanghai and Basel, Mr. FAN Peng, President of SPI No. 5 Branch (i.e. Shanghai Economic Management School), was on-site-interviewed by Andrea Ruberti, journalist at Basel Television Station of Switzerland on the morning of November 11th.
As introduced by Mr. FAN, the training program for the young enterprise management talents in both Shanghai and Basel started in 2009 and was listed in the Memorandum of Cooperation in the context of broad exchange and cooperation since Shanghai officially became the twin city of Basel on November 19, 2007. Sharing with Shanghai quite a lot of resemblances as the most economically dynamic region in Switzerland, Basel also serves as an important hub of economy, business, culture and scientific research of Switzerland and therefore represents a unique platform for the exchange and development of the enterprise management talents. Both Shanghai Economic Management College and University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland take charge of the organization of the training programs for these talents. There have been 4 batches of young management talents (the total 22) from the state-owned enterprises of finance and industrial fields in Shanghai in Basel for each 8-week training session since 2009. During the training, the participants were able to go deep into the frontline of local enterprises and directly partake in the project planning, business negotiation and project development. By striving to fit into the foreign team, the participants learned to keep improving themselves during the practice. Basel also sent quite a number of participants to Shanghai for training in the meantime and exchanged views with Shanghai local enterprises.
Apart from singing high praise of the sound results achieved by the training programs so far, Mr. FAN believed that the program exchange, with a pragmatic nature, not only developed talents but also enhanced the mutual understanding of enterprises in both cities to promote cooperation by virtue of participant exchange. The participants, playing the role of both learners and envoys of friendship, explored a broader path for deepening the friendship between Shanghai and Basel, which proved to be of particular significance for Shanghai to build the Four Centers (international economic, financial, trading and shipping centers) as well as for the development of the state-owned enterprise reform.
In order to collect materials for the TV documentary by the Basel TV Station to demonstrate the fruits of exchange between the twin cities, Mr. Andrea Ruberti came all the way to Shanghai this time and had interviews with two representatives of the program participants, Ms. FANG Lan, Sales Manager of Shanghai East Best International (Group) Co., Ltd and Ms. SONG Lulu, General Manager of Domestic Procurement Center of Shanghai Pharmaceutical Distribution Co., Ltd.. During the interview, both ladies emphasized their intention of learning and achievements of further cooperation with foreign enterprises after returning to Shanghai. In their ideas, the training program which boasted high threshold and enriched practical uses, not only enabled the participants to have hand-on experience and improvement, but also opened a new gate for international exchanges.
Ms. SHEN Ying, Deputy Director of International Exchange and Training Office in SPI No. 5 Branch, also took part in the interview and briefed Mr. Andrea Ruberti on the information of the Institute. With the enhanced ties between the twin cities, the exchange and cooperation of enterprises in both cities will be elevated to a new height and the overseas training programs will definitely yield more fruitful results.
