Mr. Devathasen Chanee, DDG of Strategic Planning and Management of Gauteng Department of Education(GDE) of South Africa, accompanied by Mr. Rufus Mmutlana, CEO of Gauteng City Region Academy(GCRA), visited SAI and participated in the international symposium on Culture Development and Reform hosted by SAI on October 23rd. Prof. Guo Qingsong, VP of SAI met them and had a talk to discuss further cooperation.

Prof. Guo headed a delegation and visited GDE and GCRA last August, and he exchanged MOU with Mr. Chanee then. After that, SAI began its formal relationship with GDE and GCRA. Prof. Wang Guoping, EP of SAI visited GDE and GCRA August this year, and he met Premier of Gauteng and participated in the Provincial Administration Meeting as an invitee during the visit. At the symposium, Mr. Chanee will give a presentation on the transition of culture diversity in the apartheid years and the post-apartheid in South Africa. In the meeting with Prof. Guo, he proposed that the training delegation should be composed of senior government officials from SA and be sent to SAI next year. And per his suggestion, a training delegation composed of Mayors in Gauteng should also be sent to SAI in the future. He also wanted to invite a few professors from SAI to attend the seminar hosted by GDE next February on Curriculum Designing for Senior Government Officials. Prof. Guo completely agreed to his suggestions and had a detailed discussion on the concrete cooperation programs with them.
