Christiane Kesper, head of the Department of International Development Cooperation, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), comes to visit Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI) on October 13th, accompanied by Catrina Schlager, head of Shanghai Office, FES. This is her first visit to SAI to discuss mutual cooperation. Mr. Guo Qingsong, Vice President of SAI hosts the meeting. They exchange views on programs of further cooperation in the future.
SAI has been sending visiting scholars to Germany each year with the help of FES. The visiting scholar program has been so fruitful that the visiting scholars’ academic achievements and personal development benefit a lot. Guo mentions that SAI would like to accept German visiting scholars and welcome German experts to deliver lectures at ‘Scientific Development--Shanghai Forum’”. For bilateral cooperation, he suggests that such themes can be explored in terms of international seminar as how science and technology innovation changes people’s life and how the government promotes the innovation of science and technology.
Shanghai Office of FES was established in the joint efforts of the leaders of both sides. Since then the Communist Party of China and the Social Democratic Party of Germany get to learn more about each other. It is the 30th anniversary of the founding of its first office in China this year. Kesper hopes there will be more opportunities of cooperation with Sino-German large-scale economic cooperation. In order to further cooperation, she invites a delegation from SAI to visit FES next year.
