With the holding of 2014 CICA Summit, new highlights appeared in the cooperation between Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI) and other Asia training institutes for civil servants. On May 21, the Senior Leadership Seminar of Civil Service College of Singapore visited the institute for training. There were 38 trainees in the seminar, who were the leaders at bureau-level or deputy-bureau-level from 31 ministries, bureaus, offices, commissions and universities of Singapore, including the Ministry of Manpower, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Law, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Social and Family Development, the Ministry of Communications and Information, and National University of Singapore.
On that day, WANG Guoping, Executive Deputy President, received the trainees of the seminar and introduced them to the general situation of the institute. Deputy President GUO Qingsong and the head of the Office of Foreign Affairs were also present at the meeting.
In the light of the purpose of the seminars visit, the trainees listened to special lectures on "The Current Situation and Future of the Economic and Social Development in Shanghai" and "Challenges and Countermeasures for the Construction of Eco-Civilization in Shanghai". They also visited the Financial Street on the Bund and Shanghai Pudong Development Bank for on-site teaching to learn about the situation of the construction of Shanghai into an international financial center.
The trainees all felt the training impressive and rewarding. On behalf of all the trainees, Chew Men Leong, Chief of the training group and Chief Executive Officer of the Public Utilities Board of Singapore, said,"We are very grateful to Shanghai Administration Institute for the warm reception of us. The training helps us better understand China comprehensively, especially the development of Shanghai, and promote the communication and exchange between China and Singapore. Now we are more strongly aware that Singapore cannot solely rely on itself to develop. It also needs the support of the world. Chinas development creates an outer environment for us, which is helpful to and can support a better development of Singapore. We will never forget Shanghai Administration Institute. Thank you and we hope that we can have more opportunities for learning and exchange with you in the future."
