Entrusted by the Training Center of Chinese Academy of Governance, the Seminar for the Young Leaders from African Countries came to Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI) for training on April 9 and 10. The 20 trainees of the seminar are the young leaders at Division–or-Bureau Level from ten African countries——Ethiopia, Eritrea, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Mauritius, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Seychelles and Uganda.
On the morning of April 10, Deputy President ZHU Hua received the members of the seminar, making an introduction to the general situation of SAI for them, and the heads of Foreign Affairs Office and Training Division also attended the meeting. Professor CHEN Yongming of the Economics Department of SAI gave a special lecture on the general situation of economic development in Shanghai, and made a thorough discussion with the trainees on topics such as social security, education, population, trade, environmental protection, public security, finance and new venture creation in Shanghai. During the training period, the trainees had two on-site teaching: one was to learn about the building of Party organizations at grassroots communities in China and the other was to explore the building of China (Shanghai) Free Trade Zone on site.
Mr. Justus Kamuhanda Nuwajuna, monitor of the seminar, who served as an executive member of National Resistance Movement of Uganda and Vice Chairman of Youth Federation of National Resistance Movement of Uganda, expressed that the training was impressive because they learned about the transformation and every aspect of development in Chinese economy, politics and society, and deepened their understanding of Shanghai; as a representative of the young leaders of the ruling parties or ruling coalition of African countries, each of them had an opportunity to become a leader of his or her country in the future, so they would take back to their own countries the experience and practices of China worth using for reference, so that one day in the future they could tell Chinese friends that they haven’t wasted what they learnt at SAI,and that it was his sincere hope to maintain the exchange and cooperation between the two parties in the future.
To this day since last year, with the entrustment of the Training Center of Chinese Academy of Governance, SAI has conducted the training programs for civil servants from 15 African countries including Tanzania, Niger, Namibia, Burundi, Senegal and ten English-speaking countries. Trainees from Eritrea, Kenya and Seychelles were the new-comers to the seminar, so by now, African civil servants have been trained at SAI from 15 African countries.
