Commissioned by the Training Center of Chinese Academy of Governance,Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI) had the seminar of high-and-medium-ranking officials from Italy to attend training on June 27, 2014. It was their second visit to SAI following the visit of 15 high-and-medium-ranking officials from Italy last December.
Among the 15 participants in the seminar, 12 were officials at the director-general level from major functional organs of the Italian government, including Prime Minister’s office, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Infrastructure, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of the Interior, and National School of Public Administration of Italy. Mr. SHAO Wenhai, Director of the Training Center of Chinese Academy of Governance, visited SAI along with the seminar.
It was the first visit for all participants to Shanghai. Despite limited time and a tight schedule, they demonstrated a strong craving for knowledge of "A Real Shanghai". Accordingly, the curricula were designed to satisfy their demands from two perspectives. For the macroscopic perspective, participants were arranged to attend a lecture focused on general development of economy and society in Shanghai so as to have an accurate knowledge of Shanghais urban development strategy, administration philosophy, economy, urban planning and investment opportunities at macro-level. For the endemic perspective, participants visited Linfen Sub-district of Zhabei District, a "National Model Community", in the form of on-site teaching so as to have an intuitive perception of the efficiency of implementing Shanghais macro-policies, administration of Shanghais communities and the daily life of Shanghai people.
All participants showed their satisfaction with the curricula and believed that the visit was fruitful and worthwhile. As the head of the seminar, Professor Renzo Turatto of National School of Public Administration of Italy presented their gratitude to SAI for the hospitality on behalf of all participants, and stressed that Italy and China shared a long history of exchanges with each other and profound traditional friendship, and said National School of Public Administration of Italy also had long-term and close ties with SAI. He added that the re-visit of high-and-medium-ranking officials of Italy to SAI for training further deepened the mutual exchanges and he expected significant progress would be made in their future collaboration.
On the same day, Mr. WANG Guoping, Executive Vice-President of SAI, and Mr. GUO Qingsong, Vice-President of SAI, met the participants of the seminar. Mr. WANG Guoping pointed out that National School of Public Administration of Italy and Shanghai Administration Institute were long-term partners bound by contract for collaboration and exchanges in scientific research, such high caliber training programs as this seminar supported and arranged by Chinese Academy of Governance. He expected that all the participants could offer valuable suggestions and help SAI improve the training.
Mr. GUO Qingsong attended the opening ceremony and briefed the participants about SAIs management system, school-running pattern, internationalization and so forth.
