The International Seminar on Metropolitan Public Security and Emergency Management & 2014 Annual Meeting by Asia Council of the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) was convened at Shanghai Administration Institute on June 16 and June 17, 2014. Over 60 leaders, experts and scholars from international organizations, local governments, higher schools, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and large-scale multinationals attended the Seminar. Mr. GUO Qingsong, Vice President of SAI, was present and delivered the keynote address at the seminar. With the theme of “Metropolitan Public Security and Emergency Management”, the present representatives had extensive and in-depth discussions and exchanges on the following topics: “risks of urban public security and its control”, “roles of NGOs in urban emergency management” and “emergency management of large-scale multinationals”, and reached consensus to some extent on hot issues concerning metropolitan public security and emergency management. The seminar brought distinct opportunities for SAI to learn successful experience and theoretical achievements in emergency management research and training from different places in China and different countries in the world.
