On October 27, a delegation led by Benjamin Reichenbach, Director of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Shanghai Representative Office, visited the Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI). Executive Vice President ZENG Jun presided over the meeting.

Mr. ZENG extended a welcome to Mr. Reichenbach and his delegation. He noted that this year marks the 100thanniversary of the founding of the FES and the 25thanniversary of the signed cooperation between the SAI and the FES Shanghai Representative Office. Looking back on their collaboration, both sides have consistently adhered to the principle of mutual learning, engaging in diverse and fruitful cooperation. Looking ahead, he expected to see cooperation on more dimensions and further exchanges in areas such as joint research publications and personnel exchanges, thereby elevating the partnership to new heights.

Mr. Reichenbach expressed sincere gratitude to the SAI for its longstanding contributions to promoting Sino-German dialogue and exchanges. He provided a detailed introduction to the development history and latest updates of the FES. He remarked that despite challenges posed by the turbulent international political landscape, cross-border cultural and academic exchanges hold unique value and significance, especially during such special times.

Both Mr. ZENG and Mr. Reichenbach agreed that the cooperation between the two sides is built on a solid foundation and covers broad areas. They proposed focusing on key fields such as high-quality economic development, collaborative breakthroughs in technological innovation, and modernization of urban governance to conduct more in-depth exchanges and cooperation. Through mutual learning, they aim to explore new approaches and address emerging challenges. Both sides expressed their commitment to using this meeting as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation, building it into an important bridge for enhancing understanding and mutual trust between the two countries, as well as a great platform for fostering dialogue of ideas and consolidating development consensus. They pledged to contribute wisdom and strength to the steady and long-term development of Sino-German relations and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Also attending the meeting were Niels Hegewisch, China Affairs Liaison from the FES Berlin Headquarters, as well as responsible officials from the SAI Political Party Building Department and the Foreign Affairs Office.
